In retrospect, Harley Quinn was the first female character that seemed real to me. Much more so than the "Stripper with a Heart of Gold," "The Sexually Repressed (But You Know She Wants it) Librarian," "The Nagging Feminist/Mother Figure," "The Perfect Cheerleader on the Verge of a Breakdown" or *shudders* "The Damsel in Distress"- characters.
